Taoiseach Leo Varadkar joined Google Ireland Community Team and local community leaders to celebrate the latest graduates from employment courses funded by Google.org as part of the Community Employment Task Force.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar attended a graduation ceremony at the Fair Play Cafe to celebrate the latest Google.org beneficiaries who have recently completed job skills courses as part of the Employment Taskforce set up by Community Affairs. The event was the latest milestone in a programme that has a 90% employment rate and has delivered more than 1,000 Google Career Certificates to underserved members of the community surrounding the Dublin offices.
Attendees included Labour Party leader Ivana Bacik TD, Barry Andrews MEP, Fianna Fáil Justice Spokesperson Jim O’Callaghan TD and local councillors from government parties.
Markievicz Celtic Academy! The football Academy started on the 20th of May. 40 children from the flats in the Pearse Street area got their kit on and enjoyed some skilful coaching from the local volunteers. It’s great to see local clubs growing. Watch out for our upcoming football stars!!
The Employment Task Force recently met with Deputy Jim O’Callaghan and Deputy Chris Andrews to discuss their training and education plan. The Task Force is made up of the local community services and state bodies with a focus on training and economic recovery. Much of their work you can see through some of the services such as the Train the Trainer programmes, Hospitality skills, Marine Skills & Technology, Digital training, Service trade skills, Career step programmes, Career Cafe and many more.
The Education Task Force established by Google is focused on bridging the digital divide. Barnardos and WebWise attended our recent education roundtable discussion along with Deputy Ivana Bacik for a listen and learn session. This session will inform the programmes Google will support in the local schools.
Cambridge FC – What an incredible evening at the Gibson with guest speaker Paul McGrath hosted by Cambridge FC to help raise funds for young players to travel. It was great to see the wider community coming out in style showing great support for young players. Best of luck with the event.
