Movie of the Week – Suite Francaise
Based on a novel by Irène Némirovsky, a French Jew who was executed at Auschwitz soon after its completion, Suite Francaise tells the tale of a small French village that finds itself under Nazi occupation in 1940. The central plot concerns the secret relationship between the wife of a French soldier and a German commander, but far more interesting are the various subplots detailing how various members of the community react to the occupation, some happy to collude, others plotting resistance in secret.

Goodbye to Language 3D
Goodbye to Language 3D is the latest experimental work from the legendary Jean-Luc Godard. While it does feature a groundbreaking use of the 3D format, allowing you to choose between separate images depending on which eye you close, this is pretentious nonsense of the worst kind. Expect to leave with a severe headache if you venture to this one.

Run All Night
Liam Neeson is back for more third rate action in the chase thriller Run All Night. As usual a family member is in trouble and only old Liam can save the day. Apart from how bad these movies are, they’re seriously offensive in their depiction of the Irish. This is the third movie in the past year in which Neeson has played an Irish alcoholic. Time to move on Liam.
If you have a tolerance for bad slasher movies, Friday the 13th is screening tonight, Friday, at The Lighthouse.
