The 2016 Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice 2016 was announced yesterday at Our Lady’s Hospital in Harold’s Cross.
Taking place on Thursday September 15th, the campaign encourages the public to share a cup of Bewley’s to support their local hospice and support the work they do to help care for communities throughout the country.
Comedian Mario Rosenstock was on site for the launch and is just one of several notable personalities supporting the campaign including Davy Fitzgerald, Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson, Imelda May, Gabriel Byrne, Baz and Nancy Ashwamy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Rosenstock spoke about his experiences with the hospice and his appreciation of the public’s involvement:
“I’ve long been a supporter of the hospice. Over the years I’ve seen at first-hand the work they do and the care they give. Each and every hospice patient is treated with wonderful kindness and dignity at such a vulnerable time.
To continue giving this care, hospice services across the country need vital funds and Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice is the one day when everyone can get involved and help them to do just that. Whether you host a coffee morning of your own or visit a local coffee morning to enjoy a Bewley’s coffee, your support is key as every cup counts.”
Registration can be done a number of ways, including via as a form at this webpage (by which participants gain a free Bewley’s fresh ground coffee pack), calling local hospices at 1890 717 000 or by simply going to any nearby coffee morning for their local hospice.
The Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice was started in 1993 and has happened every year since then. €32 million has been earned since the campaign began, with Bewley’s providing the coffee free of charge nationwide with all of the money being raised going to the local hospice care services. Last year, St. Francis Hospice in Raheny and Blanchardstown raised over €242,000 through 545 coffee mornings.
