Pop down to Cambridge Court tomorrow, the 28th of March in support of Daffodil Day, where the residents will be doing their bit for the Irish Cancer Society’s biggest and longest-running fundraising day.
According to resident Laurel Hunter, “There’ll be a huge raffle, coffee and tea, and a cake sale as well.” Every year the residents of the housing complex hold an event for the nationwide campaign. “It’s a big thing.”
Now in its 27th year, Daffodil Day helps to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society, which provides a free service to those who have been affected by cancer across the country. The Society relies upon donations from the public to make up 94% of its income, with Daffodil Day being the most important event in their fundraising calendar.
If you can’t make it to any of the events happening around the country, there are a number of other ways to make a donation. You can text Daff to 50300 to donate €4 to the Irish Cancer Society. CallSave 1850 60 60 60, email fundraising@irishcancer.ie or go online to www.cancer.ie/daffodilday to make a donation to the cause. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for daffodil pins and flowers your local shops and businesses!
